Ty Lawson to stay with Houston Rockets

By Ben Casey

Maybe the chemistry issue has stemmed from Josh Smith’s absence, not Ty Lawson’s presence. Now we’ll get a chance to find out.

No news is going to be bigger today than the Clippers trading Josh Smith back to the Houston Rockets. Houston got a great deal on that trade, bringing in a guy who was a crucial member of last year’s squad for next to nothing.

However, the other news that has surfaced today is intriguing as well. According to Sam Amick of USA Today, The Houston Rockets intend on keeping summer acquisition Ty Lawson past the trade deadline on February 18th.

While some fans have been advocating for GM Daryl Morey to get rid of him, Lawson’s been playing his best basketball of the season as of late. Coming off an 18 point performance on 8-13 shooting Wednesday night, he could be ready to make the jump back to being the quality player he was in Denver.

Check back later for more updates on the Ty Lawson/Josh Smith story as the day progresses.

More Rockets: I'm told they expect to keep Ty Lawson past Feb. 18 trade deadline. Recent chatter about Bucks, but they're rolling w/ him.
