With all the trade rumors and speculations surrounding the Houston Rockets, Dwight Howard and Ty Lawson are still members on the team.

Wednesday night, Marc Stern of ESPN reported that the Houston Rockets and Utah Jazz were discussing a trade, that would have sent Ty Lawson to Salt Lake City, in exchange for former lottery pick Trey Burke.

The trade seemed like a good deal for both teams. The Jazz would have received the veteran point guard they are in need of. While the Rockets would have acquired one of the up-and-coming point guards in the league. Unfortunately, two hours before the trade deadline, league sources confirmed that the Jazz were no longer interested in a deal for Lawson.

Since the Rockets were unable to trade the former Tar Heel, what’s next for Ty Lawson and his future in Clutch City.

Lawson has told reporters that he definitely wants to finish the season in Houston. However, Chris Broussard of ESPN reported that the Rockets will strongly condsidering waiving their offseason misfit.

Lawson is signed through next season, but agreed during the offseason to turn the last year of his deal into a non-guaranteed salary. With the player eligibility waiver deadline set for March 1st, the Rockets have less than two weeks to make their decision on Lawson. So unless he can become the player he once was a year ago, perhaps the Rockets would have to settle on a Lawson buyout.
