Even prior to the Houston Rockets finishing their playoff run, bidding for Dwight Howard’s services next season has already begun.
Apparently the emoji war that dominated twitter during the DeAndre Jordan free agency debacle did nothing to deter Chandler Parsons from jumping back into the fray as the Dallas Mavericks recruiter. He’s even launched an early campaign to try to draw Houston Rockets big man Dwight Howard to join him in Dallas.
As Calvin Watkins ESPN article reports Howard is focused on the task at hand at the moment, given the Houston Rockets are still in the post season, albeit hanging on by a thread. What is interesting about Parson’s early campaign is he himself is a free agent this summer if he chooses (which he’s previously indicated he will) opt out of his contract given his player option.
"“I don’t pay attention to it,” he said. “It’s he said, she said. My job is to focus on being great [Wednesday] and helping this team win, not what anybody else has to say. Chandler is a close friend, but it’s not about what he thinks or what he wants right now. It’s about this team and what we’re trying to accomplish.”"
Though many assume Howard will won’t return to the Rockets next season at least his focus is still on winning game 5.
