Mike D’Antoni excited to be coaching Houston Rockets

By Tamberlyn Richardson

Mike D’Antoni interviewed with Dennis Scott while in Vegas watching his Summer League roster. He opined on the team and his excitement at being the Houston Rockets new Head Coach.

Mike D’Antoni told NBA TV’s Dennis Scott he’s excited to be coaching the Houston Rockets and be back in head coaching position.

He spoke about how much the 3-ball has become such a great weapon and how he expects James Harden and Ryan Anderson specifically to be utilizing it next season.

D’Antoni spoke more about Harden citing his great passing skills. And also touched on some of the new additions to the team.  As for Eric Gordon D’Antoni worked with him 5 years ago with Team USA and has always wanted to work with him again.

The coach feels ‘ a lot of chemistry issues have been resolved’ (is that a statement on Dwight Howard?

Asked what D’Antoni looks for from the players in Vegas and what will help them get minutes he cites things such as whether the player is a system fit, if they have an NBA skill, and if the coaching staff can help them work on what they don’t have. Ultimately if they can shoot and hustle on defense it bodes well for them to get playing time.
