As K.J. McDaniels prepares for his fifth NBA season and third with the Rockets it’s time H-Town start to see him in the regular rotation.

For the past 2 seasons K.J. McDaniels has barely hit the court playing in just 47 games in total after coming over from the Sixers. Though he still has focus issues and has yet to master three point consistency one look at him in the Summer League reminded all of his full tool box of skills.

In review of last season McDaniels played in 37 games. The most interesting stat jumping off the page is when K.J. played more than ten minutes he scored in double digits each time. From the period of March 9th through to the end of the season he appeared in all but 2 games. His highest scoring game occurred versus his old team the Sixer when he netted 12 points.

Another bright outing happened  when he got some run versus the Memphis Grizzlies when he scored 10 points, had 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in 12 minutes.  However, McDaniels spent much of his time with the Rockets D-League affiliate the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Heading into this season it’s time the Rockets either utilize McDaniels with a set role and regular minutes or trade him. Many clubs would be excited to have K.J.’s multi faceted skill set.

Conceivably with so little defensive prowess on the Rockets he could play a role in that regard. So, if D’Antoni doesn’t see a fit it would be better if they trade him so he can find a role on a club. Entering his fifth season personally I think he’s earned that opportunity.
