Montrezl Harrell enters his upcoming second season with the Houston Rockets hoping to break into the regular rotation. SCS takes a look back at the highlights from his rookie season.

Montrezl Harrell spent most of his rookie season playing in the Houston Rockets D-League. He did manage to make it into 39 games with the varsity team.

During those 39 appearances he averaged 3.6 points and 1.7 rebounds in 9.7 minutes per game. In the 18 games where played more than 10 minutes he reached double digits in scoring and over 5 rebounds  3 of those occasions.

His best scoring performance occurred in the second game of season versus the Golden State Warriors when he netted 17 points:

While this was a positive start to the season his best outings came courtesy of the D-League affiliate the Rio Grande Valley Vipers where he tore it up:

January 25th he scored 34 points vs the Austin Spurs

In another outing versus the Oklahoma City Blue he scored 27 points, had 13 rebounds and 6 blocks:

Harrell showcased grit and intensity in virtually every game he hit the court:

Though his game offers the intangibles you look for from every player which is a motor and passion until he can add a consistent shot that stretches out the court he may be limited. Still it’s reasonable to assume he should gain limited minutes in a bench role this coming season.
