While Houston Rockets Zhou Qi may not suit up this season in America he sure is getting his fill of top NBA talent.

After playing two games versus Team USA in preparation for the Rio Olympics the Chinese Team who Zhou Qi plays for opened the Olympic tournament against USA.

Like the prior games Team USA took advantage of the Chinese team early and often finishing with a huge margin of victory 119-52.

The quarters showed the disparity between the two teams as USA scored 30 points, 29 points, 32 points and 28 points in quarters 1 through 4. Conversely China was less successful scoring 10, 20, 17 and 15 in their four quarters.

Unlike their last meeting leading up to the Olympics Zhou Qi wasn’t nearly as successful. His stat line read: 3 points (all achieved at the free throw line, 1 rebound, 1 steal and 1 block. He had 2 turnovers and 4 personal fouls in his 18 minutes on the floor.

This is a far cry from his production at the game in Houston versus the same Team USA squad:

25:18 Minutes,13 Points, 2 Rebounds, 2 Assists, 55.6% Field Goal Percent.

Suffice to say he’ll need to take advantage of the Olympic tournament to learn as much as he can about playing at the professional level.  Following Rio it’s likely Qi will play in China this season and work on gaining size and improving areas of his game as dictated by Houston Rockets coaching staff.
