Former Rocket Robert Horry made a bold statement on ESPN this week.

Horry, someone never afraid to create a headline-grabbing statement, commented on who he believes is just below Michael Jordan all time. That man is Rockets great Hakeem Olajuwon. While talking about the Dream, Horry also took a shot a Tim Duncan. He states that Olajuwon is “20x better than Tim Duncan,” which is certainly an interesting claim. Here is part of the segments on the SportsCenter Twitter feed:

Hakeem Olajuwon is certainly one of the all-time greats and belongs above Tim Duncan in my opinion. The Dream changed post moves for the better and inspired a wave of great centers. While the center and power forward positions are not the same today as they once were, there are still many times that Hakeem has helped out big men over the last few years.

As for Robert Horry, some of the things he said are interesting to hear. He is one of the only players to play with and against both Olajuwon and Duncan, so he would know first-hand on how they are as players and leaders. Horry may not have been thinking too much when he said the statement about Duncan, but there could be some truth to it as well.  With the second-best player of all time comment, Robert’s opinion is just misguided. Don’t get me wrong, I love Hakeem the Dream as much as anyone, but Michael Jordan and LeBron James have the number one and two spots fairly locked down.
