The coach of the Rockets has won a prestigious award.

Mike D’Antoni has won the Coach of the Year award. This is the second time in his coaching career that he has won this award, and it was well deserved. The bench boss has completely turned around the Rockets and the team is better for it. He led the Rockets to a top-2 offense and the third-best record in the NBA. The team put around him was perfect for his playstyle and this is just the beginning.

There are many reasons as to why Mike D’Antoni won the Coach of the Year. He transformed the Rockets from a fringe-playoff team to the third best team in the league. Without his incredible offensive playstyle, who knows what the Rockets would have looked like. Rockets GM Daryl Morey did an incredible job with this hire and proved the fans wrong that doubted him.

Many people had the Rockets being several games under .500. Pairing Mike D’Antoni with James Harden and the rest of the 3-point centered team made sure that did not happen. Instead, he led the Rockets to a 55-27 record and to the Conference Semi-Finals. Watch the speech that Coach D’Antoni gave down below, he really did a good job.

The Rockets have been well represented so far in the NBA Awards Show. Eric Gordon has won the Sixth Man of the Year award and Patrick Beverley has won the Hustle Award. James Harden is a candidate for MVP and just did not win the Performance of the Year Fan Award. Be sure to check back to Space City Scoop throughout the night and see who won what!
