General Houston Rockets news from the weekend (October 6-8)


There was some interesting Rockets news this weekend as the season draws closer and closer.

After a win against the Shanghai Sharks on Thursday night, the Rockets have had a great weekend of small news. Let’s start with the ownership of the team becoming official!

Tilman Fertitta Officially the Owner

Tilman Fertitta made the purchase of the Houston Rockets official on Saturday. According to, Fertitta said, “I could not be happier. To own the Rockets in my hometown of Houston is a dream come true.  I promise to continue to make this city proud of the Rockets and to do what we can to bring home a championship.”

He has a tough act to follow in Les Alexander. Hopefully, he can be a fantastic owner for the team.

Rockets Fanfest and Open Practice

The Rockets held their Fanfest and Open Practice yesterday morning and afternoon. Fans got to meet players and even the new owner, Fertitta.

The team also scrimmaged in front of the fans. Take a look at some of the highlights:
