The Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves will face each other in the first-round of the playoffs. Lets take a look at three matchups that you can’t miss.
Now that the regular season is over, the playoff brackets are officially set. The Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves will face each other in the first round.
The Rockets ended the 2017-18 regular season with a franchise high 65 wins. Houston finished with the best road record (31-10) and they tied with Toronto for the best home record (34-7) in the NBA. The Rockets also won 41 of their 52 games against teams in the stacked western conference.
The Minnesota Timberwolves finished the season with 47 wins. Although, they didn’t clinch a playoff spot until the last day of the regular season in a win or go home game against the Denver Nuggets.
There have only been five No. 8 seeds in NBA history that have eliminated the No. 1 seed. The most recent was back in 2012 when the 76ers knocked out the Bulls, but Chicago lost Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah in that series.
Even though they barely squeaked into the postseason, the Wolves are better than the average eighth seed. Minnesota has two franchise cornerstones in Karl-Anthony Towns and Jimmy Butler, and Andrew Wiggins can take over games on the offensive end. This series is loaded with a lot of great matchups, but there are three matchups that you should keep a particularly close eye on.
