Michael Porter Jr. – Missouri (Small Forward)

This would be the dream scenario for the Rockets. Michael Porter Jr. is a player that could very well fall to the middle of the lottery due to his injury problems in his back.

Could the Rockets be looking at Porter Jr. as they want to move up in the draft? He certainly would be a great fit.

Pros

He is a very unique talent that could end up being an absolutely incredible NBA player. Porter Jr. is an athletic beast who has many talents.

He hardly played in college at Mizzou after suffering a back injury early. However, his talent shown in high school will still ensure that he is a lottery pick in this draft. MPJ is a knockdown 3-point shooter with excellent driving ability at a tall 6’11. NBADraft.net compares him to Kevin Durant for his NBA comp.

He has a ton of incredible highlights across the internet and was one of the most recruited players last summer. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see him a ton in college but he is still an electric forward that has guard-like quickness and talent.

Cons

The injury history is a big concern, of course. Back problems are no joke, especially for someone as young as Porter Jr. However, he is worth the risk because you could be getting an NBA-ready talent that could grow into an absolute star.

His playmaking is another con with MPJ. He has the ability to make great passes and plays, but he can be a little selfish with the ball at times. Maybe that was just because he was easily the best player on his high school team.

Overall

If MPJ is available at whatever pick the Rockets find themselves with, they should take him without hesitation. He has superstar potential.
