The Houston Rockets should absolutely sign Carmelo Anthony, but only if he’s willing to accept a few conditions.

Yesterday, there were multiple reports stating that the Rockets had interest in signing Carmelo Anthony.

In order to lessen their luxury tax burden, the Thunder are expected to cut ties with Anthony this summer after just one season. Anthony wasn’t a great fit in OKC and the two parties are seemingly headed in opposite directions.

After failing to secure a trade for Anthony last summer, the Rockets will have the opportunity to sign Melo again. Fortunately, Anthony won’t command anywhere near the $27.9 million that OKC will owe him next season.

If he chooses to sign with Houston, the Rockets can offer him their mid-level exception, which amounts to $5.3 million. Anthony is no longer in his prime, but he can still score in droves when he’s in a rhythm.

Some fans might not want Anthony in Houston, but the Rockets should definitely sign him under these three conditions.
