2. Make an All-Defensive team

Chris Paul is not only a great offensive player, but he’s also been one of the best defensive guards in the league since his rookie season. Paul has made the All-Defensive First Team seven times, the All-Defensive Second Team twice and has led the NBA in steals four times.

Paul is six feet tall and weighs just 175 pounds, but he is a tenacious defender and he’s made the most out of his physical talents. He rarely loses track of his assignments on defense and he’s great at pick pocketing a ball-handler when he least expects it.

Trending. James Harden is using the offseason criticism as motivation

Just last season, Paul received the most votes (74) among players that didn’t make either the All-Defensive First or Second Team, despite the fact that Paul missed 24 regular season games. In fact, Paul received just five votes less than Jimmy Butler, who made the All-Defensive Second Team.

Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute, two of Houston’s top 5 defenders, left the team in free agency. Paul has to step up and play lock down defense in order for the Rockets to have a chance at finishing as a top 10 defensive team again next season.
