Houston Rockets: Best candidates for NBA awards

The Houston Rockets have a deep roster and plenty of players that can win a NBA award in the 2018-19 season. Let’s take a look at a few of the top candidates.
Last season, the Rockets won a franchise-record 65 games in the regular season and finished with the best record in the league. With such a talented roster, many of Houston’s stars were in the race for multiple awards.
James Harden took home the big trophy, as he finally won the MVP Award. The Beard led the NBA in scoring (30.4 points) and in 3-pointers made (265). Harden’s personal success along with Houston’s team success made him the obvious choice for MVP.
Houston had such a good season that even the franchise’s staff won awards. After securing Chris Paul last summer, along with Luc Mbah a Moute, P.J. Tucker and Gerald Green, Daryl Morey was named Executive of the Year. Adding Paul, Mbah a Moute and Tucker helped make Houston a top 10 defense in the league, a big accomplishment for a franchise that struggled to stop opponents in recent years.
Most of Houston’s core pieces are returning next season, so the Rockets could have multiple players win awards. Let’s get started.
