2. It will take time for Carmelo Anthony to gel with the Rockets

One of the most widely discussed, and criticized, moves of the offseason was around Carmelo Anthony signing with the Houston Rockets. Anthony has been branded by the media as a player that is over the hill and is mostly all about himself.

However, Anthony has accepted a bench role and he is trading in his patented mid range pull ups for 3-pointers. Anthony has struggled with his shot to start the season, however, he is rebounding the basketball well, which is a plus for a small team like Houston.

Carmelo told USA Today’s Martin Rogers that the Rockets will figure things out as the season goes along and that it won’t all come together overnight.

“Don’t write us off yet. From what I have seen, I think (the team) is in the same position we was in last year. Trying to work it out, figure it out and get it going. (Teams) can target us, but we got to get better, we all know that. It is an early three games, we will get better, we will figure it out as the season goes along. We know what is at stake, we know what we want, we know what we got to do. … Anything new doesn’t happen and doesn’t come together overnight.”

Anthony may be coming off the bench for the first time in his career, but he still has a big role for the Rockets. Anthony is averaging 27.6 minutes in the first three games and his ability to space the floor at the power forward position and score at will is important to the flow of Houston’s offense.
