JaVale McGee

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, JaVale McGee met with the Rockets on Sunday afternoon. The two sides did not reach an agreement on a contract as McGee met with the Detroit Pistons on Monday, however, the two sides could always meet again to agree on a contract.

Despite being known for his “Shaqtin’ a Fool” moments, especially early in his career, McGee has become a solid center who could excel in the Rockets system coming off the bench for D’Antoni.

The 7-foot center’s length would be perfect for affecting shots at the rim and catching lobs from James Harden and Chris Paul.

The Rockets have not had a reliable backup for Capela the last few seasons with Nene being unable to play in back-to-backs.

Last season for the Lakers, McGee averaged 12 points and 7.5 rebounds.
