1. Superstars always figure out how to make it work when winning is their priority

The biggest positive takeaway from Paul’s era in Houston is that superstars can get past potential chemistry issues if winning is at the center of their priorities. When Houston traded for Paul, everyone wondered how well Harden and Paul, two ball dominant guards, could co-exist on the court.

In reality, Harden and Paul were tough to beat when they were both healthy. In Paul’s two seasons in Houston, the Rockets finished 81-22 (78.64 win percentage) when he shared the floor with Harden.

The duo may have had a few issues here and there about how the team should play, but they never let that impact their results on the floor. Harden and Paul made it work because they both wanted to play together in order to accomplish their goal of winning a championship.

Next. Where the Rockets’ stars fit in the top 10 players in the NBA

Russell Westbrook has stepped into Paul’s place, and he’s two years younger than Paul was when Houston traded for him in 2017. A Harden and Westbrook backcourt extends Houston’s championship window by a few years, and if Harden and Paul’s success is any indication, Harden and Westbrook could make the Houston Rockets even better than ever.
