Houston Rockets: 3 goals for Clint Capela in 2019-20 season

1. Make an All-Defensive team
While reaching the previous two offensive goals would make Clint Capela a significantly better player, his defense is what really makes him valuable to Houston.
While Capela is already a good defender, he hasn’t elevated his defense to a high enough level to make an All-Defensive team. The Lakers and Clippers will likely be two of the top three teams in the west next year, and both of those teams have All-Defensive players like Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Patrick Beverley.
While P.J. Tucker and Eric Gordon are very good defenders, Clint Capela has the ability to be the best defender on the team. Capela is not only 6’10” tall, but he also has a 7’5″ wingspan. Combine that with Capela’s quickness and his ability to switch onto and stay in front of elite guards, and you have the perfect recipe for an elite defender in today’s NBA.
Next. Where the Rockets Rank Amongst the Top Teams in the NBA
Houston’s defense slipped last year after finishing as a top 10 defensive team in the 2017-18 season. In order to put themselves in a position to win a championship, the Rockets need to get back to making defense a bigger priority, and it will start with their big man in the middle.
