Houston Rockets: 3 goals for P.J. Tucker in the 2019-20 season

2. Shoot at least 38 percent from the 3-point line
After setting a career-high in 3-pointers made in his first season in Houston, P.J. Tucker did it once again in the 2018-19 season. Tucker made 1.8 3s on 37.7 percent shooting from the 3-point line this past season and shot a sizzling 45.6 percent from the 3-point line in the postseason.
Tucker is actually a fairly average 3-point shooter from most places on the floor, but he shines in the right corner. Tucker shot 70-162 from the right corner last season, or 43.2 percent. Outside of shots at the rim, the corner 3 is the most efficient shot in basketball. Houston’s offensive sets are designed to take advantage of the corner 3 and with Russell Westbrook’s ability to penetrate and collapse opposing defenses, you’d have to assume that Tucker will get more than his fair share of open 3’s next season.
Tucker should aim to shoot at least 38 percent from 3-point range next season. That’s in line with what he’s averaged in the last two seasons (37.1 and 37.7 percent) but hopefully we’ll see the amount of shots he takes per game from the 3-point line, especially from the corners, increase next season.
