Austin Rivers really gave the Houston Rockets a boost when he joined last season. Here are three goals for the combo guard in the 2019-20 season.

After having a career year with the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2017-18 season, Austin Rivers struggled to adjust after he was traded to the Wizards in the first part of the 2018-19 season. Washington traded Rivers to the Suns, who waived him a day later, clearing the way for Rivers to sign a one-year deal with the Houston Rockets.

Rivers had a very hot start in Houston, averaging 13.3 points and dishing out 3.5 assists while shooting 39 percent from downtown over his first 12 games with the team, leading to eight Houston victories. Houston picked him up at the perfect time, as Chris Paul was still recovering from a hamstring injury.

Rivers cooled off as the season went on, but his defense and his ability to create his own shot here and there were very valuable skills for the Rockets. Not to mention, having another point guard on the team was a great insurance policy considering all of the injuries Houston had at the beginning of the season.

On July 17, Rivers signed a two-year, $4.5 million to stay with the Houston Rockets and he will continue play an important role for Houston off the bench. Here are three goals for Austin Rivers in the 2019-20 season.
