With Clint Capela entering the first year of his incentive-loaded contract extension actually taking effect for the Rockets, will he reach his individual incentives? Let’s take a look!

When the Rockets agreed to a contract extension with Clint Capela in 2018, the contract included upto $10 million in incentives over the course of 5 years. As explained by Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post, the contract would pay Capela $1 million if the Rockets reach the Western Conference finals, $500,000 if he has a defensive rate of 30% or more and $500,000 if he shoots 65% or better from the free throw line.

If Capela’s incentives would’ve counted last season, he wouldn’t have received any bonuses because he fell short of each incentive. Although those are certainly attainable, will he reach those incentives next season? I’m expecting him to reach one of them.

Let’s dive into each individual goal!
