There have been a number of top-notch guests that have attended and sang at all of Battier’s charity sing-a-longs, but the best entertainment has come from some of his teammates.

Michael Beasley

and

Coach Spoelstra

came up and “hit them with their best shot” earlier this year, but they definitely couldn’t match this trio…

The Foundation and the Man Behind It AllBattier’s Take Charge Foundation, ran by his wife Heidi and himself, is all about “providing resources for the development and education of underserved youth and teens.” The money donated to charity helps fund the four-year scholarships that the TCF gives to hard-working, underprivileged kids.

Besides for “Battioke,” the foundation also has a golf event called “Take Charge Save Par” which was a hit recently. The event was held at the American Century Championship near Lake Tahoe.

End of day three and loving this chip in on 7 for birdie. Final par/birdie count is 18! So proud of you Shane! Raised over $18k for The Battier Take Charge Foundation. The initial focus of the organization is in Houston, Miami and his hometown of Detroit, but Battier has always been a beloved player with huge heart. Having Battier on the court, as a fan, was calming because you knew he would handle his job no matter what and with full control. It’s a guarantee he looks at his foundation the same way.

Thank you to BBVA Compass! Excited about our first corporate sponsor for Battier Take Charge scholarships!

“Do Good. Do Well.” is the motto for the foundation and the Battier family in general, the motto means to always strive for better within yourself. Their strong belief in college and education has already helped shape an amazing group of individuals and the Battier family plans to keep that going.
