SCS takes a look at the social media buzz between the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors during Game 3.
Much like the previous game. As the Houston Rockets prepared for Thursday night’s match up, the trending topic heading into the contest was the status of Stephen Curry. After missing the last game due to a right ankle sprain. The Warriors decided to keep their MVP out another night.
Injury update: Stephen Curry (right ankle) will not play tonight at Houston

Unlike like Monday’s announcement, most critics saw the perfect opportunity for the Rockets to gain their first victory of the series.

Led by their All-Star duo of James Harden and Dwight Howard. Houston came out with a different intensity than the previous two games. Although they had been irrelevant to Houston’s offense throughout the series. Some good home cooking was all Chef Harden and Superman needed.

With the contribution from Harden and Howard, the Rockets held a 17 point lead midway through the first half. Unfortunately, playing against the defending champs, Houston’s lead was never safe.
Without Stephen Curry, the Warriors ended the first half on a 9-0 run. Reducing the Rockets lead to seven right before the break. With Huston leading 55-48 at the half, TNT analyst Charles Barkley had no faith in his former teams. Calling Houston’s first half performance “fake hustle.”

Although his statement seemed a bit erratic, Barkley was almost right. The Rockets led by 12 points in the third before Golden State’s 10-2 run cut their deficit to 78-72 heading into the fourth quarter.
What was crazy about the Warriors run was the player who killed the Rockets. Despite another solid shooting night for Klay Thompson, Marreese “Mo Buckets” Speights proved to be unstoppable for Houston. So much so, Rockets fans were caught off guard as well.

As the game went down to the wire, an untimely turnover from Trevor Ariza almost cost Houston the game. With Golden State up by one with 10 seconds remaining, Harden gave the Rockets his most clutch shot of the season.

After the shot, Twitter had a ball with the less-impressed Rockets bench.

With the Rockets still trailing Golden State 2-1 in the series, the odds of them winning are still slim to none. Yet, for Rockets fans, perhaps Thursday’s night victory may have been the sweetest of the year.
