The 2016 Free Agency market has opened up with several big name signings within the first 24 hours, none of which with the Rockets.

The pool of players after whom the Houston Rockets are seeking is dwindling fairly quickly. There are still some great players available, though, including Kevin Durant, Al Horford, Mike Conley, and Ryan Anderson just to name a few.

Today’s Daily Rocket Science will cover the big news and rumors that have come up over the last twelve hours that pertain to the Rockets.

Houston Rockets news and notes from around the web

First and foremost, the Rockets have secured a meeting today with Al Horford, according to Mike Chiari of Bleacher Report. Horford has been considered a top prize for this year’s free agency, and would be a spectacular fit in Houston with his jack-of-all-trades style of play. A meeting is no guarantee, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction.

Another player that has already met with the Rockets is SF Kent Bazemore. Adam Wells of Bleacher Report says that, after originally planning to hold off on meeting with teams until July 5th, Bazemore met with the Rockets at 12:01am last night for about two hours. No deal has been reached yet, but things went well at the meeting.

More from Space City Scoop

Jeremy Lin and Nicolas Batum had both been linked to the Rockets in rumors (especially Lin), but both of them have now signed contracts with other teams, according to The Dream Shake’s Ethan Rothstein. The Rockets are still in need of a point guard who can share duties with Patrick Beverley and they just missed out on the most realistic option.

Hornets F Nicolas Batum is reportedly getting $120M guaranteed from Charlotte.

That's more than Russell Wilson and Tony Romo make combined.
