The Rockets have had a fairly busy offseason, but still have some holes to fill before training camp starts.

Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes provided a list of every team’s biggest need after the flurry of free agency signings this month. The Houston Rockets have several holes, but it’s no surprise that defensive issues are the most prevalent.

"Every opponent with sense will involve Anderson in the high screen, and if it’s Harden or Gordon (or, really, anyone other than Patrick Beverley) joining him as the primary pick-and-roll defender, Houston’s defense is going to disintegrate."

Another article on Bleacher Report  by Joe Pantorno discusses the fact that the Rockets created another hole for themselves at point guard by informing Jason Terry that they would not resign him.

Veteran shooting guard Jason Terry will be looking for a new home ahead of his 18th NBA season after he told Justin Termine of SiriusXM NBA Radio that the Houston Rockets will not bring him back for the 2016-17 campaign.

Terry, who will turn 39 on September 15, spent two seasons with the Rockets in a reserve role, starting a combined 25 games.

One of the other large holes that Houston has to fill is the one at the center position. Donatas Motiejunas could help to fit that bill, but he has yet to be resigned, according to Space City Scoop’s Tamberlyn Richardson.

D-Mo also said his hopes are to return to the Rockets as he has enjoyed his tenure in Houston.

Though he offers that he’d like to sign a 3 or 4 year deal presumably if the numbers don’t meet with his liking he could ink a one or two year deal with an opt out to take advantage next season if he puts up big numbers this coming season.

The Rockets still have a significant amount of time until they have to have a complete roster, but the better options are continuing to be taken off the market by the competition.
