Team USA will finish their exhibition schedule and preparation for the Rio Olympics tonight in Houston.

The game is slated to begin at 7:00 PM CDT or 8:00 PM EST at the home of the Houston Rockets, the Toyota Center.

Tomorrow Team USA will hold a practice session between 1:00-3:30 CDT (2:00 – 4:30 EST).

The 12 players on the team are Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony and DeMarcus Cousins who most expect to be the starting line-up. With the other 7 players Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, DeAndre Jordan, Draymond Green, Paul George, Jimmy Butler and Harrison Barnes who’ll fulfill the bench obligations.

This last 4 exhibitions games the squad played all resulted in wins:

  • In Las Vegas they played Argentina to a 111 – 74  win
  • In Los Angeles at Staples Center they played China to a 106 – 57  win
  • In Oakland at Oracle they played China to a 107 – 57  win
  • In Chicago at United Center they played Venezuela to a 80 – 45  win

Notably the Rockets 43rd second round pick Zhou Qi played for the China Team and showcased reason for H-Town fans to be excited – – in the future, once he adds some size. Check out Coty Davis article on his performance:

Though Team USA has had no issues beating their opponent they have yet to find a natural flow which is understandable given the limited time they have to develop chemistry.

DeMar DeRozan has offered plenty of highlights including a reverse 360 dunk that was missed, but none the less jaw dropping. He followed that up with a windmill slam in the game versus Venezuela.

Without the likes of LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, James Harden and Chris Paul there were questions on whether this version of Team USA could be as dominant as past teams. That said, this squad has much more versatility and size then the team who won the last World Championship in Spain.
