For the last two years, The Step Back does a top 25 list of the best players under the age of 25. The Houston Rockets have a player that is pretty high on this year’s list.

Clint Capela is coming off of another fantastic year for the Houston Rockets. Each and every season, he just seems to get better. This time around, he managed to average a double-double for the first time in his career (13.9 PPG, 10.8 RPG) while leading the league in field goal percentage (65.2%) and putting up 1.9 blocks per game.

He was rewarded for his great season this summer with a huge contract extension. He signed a five-year, $90 million contract with $80 million of that money guaranteed. He will be wearing a Rockets jersey for quite some time, thankfully.

Clint Capela is one of the best young players in the league without question. So, when it was time for The Step Back to rank their top 25 players under 25, Capela had to be a part of the list.

He came in at No. 9 as he has proven quite a bit so far and also has the ability to get even better in the offense of the Rockets that perfectly suits his game. A few centers rated above him were Karl-Anthony Towns (4), Nikola Jokic (3) & Joel Embiid (2). Take a look at what Rory Masterson of The Step Back had to say about Clint here:

The future is bright

Clint Capela being in Houston for at least five more years is incredible for the Rockets. He is entering his age 24 season and fits perfectly in the plans next to James Harden and Chris Paul. Capela will be getting easy buckets for many years to come, which is perfect for his game.

Defensively, he just keeps getting better as well. He averaged nearly two blocks per game last season and was a force to be reckoned with in the paint. Clint can switch onto guards on the perimeter and still give you pretty good defense. That fits perfectly with the style of play the Rockets have on that end of the court.

Overall, Capela is the perfect center for the Rockets organization and it will be fun to see how he continues to improve over the next many years. Thanks to The Step Back for the great rating on Clint!
