Performance against contending teams

The Rockets have actually fared well against winning teams in the league this season, as they’ve gone 15-11 against teams above .500. This is good for 57.6 percent, which should give Rockets fans a vote of confidence about their chances in the postseason.

What’s even more impressive is that five of these victories have actually been on the road, which is another reason to be confident heading into the playoffs. The Houston Rockets have pulled out road victories against the Los Angeles Lakers, the LA Clippers, and the Utah Jazz, which are three of the top four seeds in the Western Conference.

This is important to note, as the Rockets have fallen to the sixth seed in the Western Conference, which means home-court advantage is a huge reach. In fact, we don’t know how the league will proceed once it resumes, so it could be entirely possible that commissioner Adam Silver decides to resume the season with the playoffs starting.

That would leave the Rockets with the sixth seed, which is where their ability to defeat contending teams on the road will come in handy. Granted, this is entirely speculation regarding how the league will resume, but it’s worth noting that the Rockets have held no qualms about winning big games on the road.
