1. March 18th, 2017 vs. Denver Nuggets

During the 2016-17 season, the Rockets had a changing of the guard, as they ended up hitting the reset button. The Rockets hired Mike D’Antoni to take over the coaching duties, and they ended up bringing in Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson, after losing Dwight Howard to free agency.

The Rockets had low expectations that season, as it was unknown how they would fare. However, the Rockets had a 49-22 record heading into their March 18th game against the Denver Nuggets, who were 33-36 at the time.

During that game, the Nuggets couldn’t contain James Harden, as he gashed them for a 40- point triple-double. Harden had game-highs in steals, rebounds, points, free-throw attempts, and 3-pointers made.

All in all, Harden went 15-of-17 from the free throw line, 3-of-8 from long-range (37.5 percent), and only needed 23 shots to drop 40 on the Nuggets. The Beard finished the game with a true shooting percentage of 65.6 percent, which was the best clip among all Rockets’ starters.

Harden had 27 points in the second half and nine of the Rockets’ final 14 points in the fourth quarter, which helped the Rockets squeak out a 109-105 victory.
