By Anthony Rios
With the NBA returning on July 30th, the Houston Rockets are primed to make a push for a higher seed in the eight remaining games. How high can they climb?
Finally, the world’s greatest basketball players are getting ready to return to the hardwood following the league’s nearly five-month suspension on July 30th. This time, there will be no homecourt advantage for any team besides maybe the Orlando Magic, as all games will take place in Orlando with very limited attendance. With standings so close, teams can use the final eight games to make a push for a better position in the playoffs, one of those teams being the Houston Rockets.
Houston is currently tied for the fifth seed with the Oklahoma City Thunder with a 40-24 record, which is only one game behind the fourth-seeded Utah Jazz. They’re also two and a half games behind the third-seeded Denver Nuggets and four games behind the two seed, the LA Clippers. Behind the Rockets are the Dallas Mavericks, who are only one and a half games behind.
The Rockets are going against tough competition in the final eight games. Each showdown will be very important for them as they look to get a higher seeding, which would be way better for them when the playoffs start due to potential matchups. Let’s take a look at each game to see if it’s likely the Rockets will make a push.
