Rockets legend Hakeem Olajuwon believes in James Harden

Olajuwon is viewed as not only the greatest player in Rockets’ franchise history, but one of the greatest players of all-time, and rightfully so considering the rare feats and accomplishments he pulled off. But from one legend to another, Olajuwon has respect for The Beard also.

On Monday, The Dream was on SportsTalk 790’s The A-Team, in honor of the 25th-year anniversary of the Rockets’ 1994-95 championship season and had a heap of praise for Harden.

“It’s very difficult to carry a team from that position, and he’s proven that comfortably, reaching new heights. Look at his statistics. He’s a player to the level of Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain.

It’s something unbelievable in this era. There’s no question about James’ ability as a champion. I think it’s just a matter of time. Any player you put with James Harden, it will work. Because James is such a complete player. He’s a winner and he knows how to win.”

Olajuwon knows a thing or two about being a champion, so he certainly has credibility in saying Harden already has the ability of one. Harden and the Rockets came painfully close to winning a title during the 2017-18 season, before Chris Paul suffered a hamstring injury in the Western Conference Finals, which broke the hearts of Rockets Nation.
