The Houston Rockets Bench
DANUEL HOUSE
Small Forward | Houston Rockets
C +
Danuel House was one of the few Rockets that struggled shooting the ball. Coming off the bench for the third time, he took nine shots, making just two of them. His 1-of-6 showing from the outside also left little to be desired. With just seven points and three rebounds in his 19 minutes, it was a relatively quiet night for House, but I imagine that will change once he’s likely inserted back into the starting lineup in the absence of Gordon.
BEN MCLEMORE
Guard | Houston Rockets
B
With a majority of the team lighting it up, the Rockets didn’t really need Ben McLemore to have a repeat performance of his big game against Memphis. As such, McLemore only took six shots on the night, making two of them. Given that Coach D’Antoni spread the minutes out to guys deeper on the bench, Ben did just fine in his limited time on the court.
JEFF GREEN
Forward | Houston Rockets
B -
We’ve been high on Jeff Green recently due to his size and versatility, in addition to his ability to hit the outside shot. On Tuesday, however, Green’s shot was off, as he made just one of his seven attempts, four of those being from the outside. Jeff finished with seven points and four rebounds in a fairly uneventful outing.
AUSTIN RIVERS
Guard | Houston Rockets
A
It was already a welcome sight to see Austin Rivers back on the court, but his importance to the team was only magnified once Eric Gordon went down. Rivers didn’t appear to miss a beat when it came to shooting the ball, making two of his four shots from the outside and 3-of-6 overall. He was also aggressive drawing fouls, attempting a team-high nine free throws and making six of them. Austin’s role as a backup guard will be crucial going forward.
Also of note, Bruno Caboclo played nine minutes in the game, scoring six points on 3-for-5 from the field. Michael Frazier also showed up for nine minutes, scoring four points.
Next up for the Houston Rockets, the games that really count, starting with a matchup against Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks on Friday, July 31st at 9pm ET on ESPN.
