The Rockets once built a championship team around James Harden. It just so happened to coincide with the greatest team ever constructed in the salary cap era. The Rockets decided to blow it up and bring in Russell Westbrook to try and take another step forward.

The Rockets can build a title team once before, and they can do it again. They already have the most important part in an MVP caliber player. The Rockets need to hope that Russell Westbrook’s late-season resurgence can stick and that he is the All-Star that they thought they were trading for.

Finding a third All-star will be difficult, but it has to be at the top of the Rockets’ offseason to-do list. The Rockets are running out of time to win a championship with James Harden. The sad part is, the Rockets’ ineptitude is what is tarnishing Harden’s legacy.

James Harden has more than lived up to his end of the bargain. It’s time the Rockets do the same for him.
