2. Houston Rockets land Joel Embiid and Al Horford

In the second trade proposal, the Rockets would send Russell Westbrook, Eric Gordon, Danuel House Jr., and Ben McLemore to the Sixers for Joel Embiid and Al Horford. Philly would be looking to dump another bad contract in exchange for Westbrook and the Rockets’ two youngest players with promise in House and McLemore.

The positive for Houston is that they would acquire a tremendous amount of size and maintain a core piece of the roster in Robert Covington. While Horford’s contract is highly regarded as one of the worst in the league right now, it does not necessarily mean he is a bad player.

With Horford in the rotation, Covington can move back to the three spot and thrive. Whether Embiid or Horford play the center position would be up in the air, but both would be upgrades over P.J. Tucker, who is currently the Rockets’ starting center.

The 76ers would benefit from this deal by acquiring some much-needed shooting in the form of McLemore and House to surround Ben Simmons, while ridding themselves of the Al Horford contract they seem to want to ship out.
