Nothing about the early stages of the Houston Rockets‘ 2020-21 season has been easy. Throughout the first month of regular season play, the James Harden saga ravaged the organization from within as the front office desperately tried to navigate trading away their franchise superstar.

However, as is exhibited in the Houston Rockets 5-9 start to the season (placing them at 14th in the Western Conference standings), the off-court distractions have had on-court ramifications.

Should the Houston Rockets tank away their season?

As the young season trudges on, the Houston brass are faced with an existential question; do they move forward with a competitive mindset and try to make the playoffs, or do they set down the long and difficult path of tanking?

Both options present their own merits, but regardless of how the Rockets move forward, the 2020-21 season will set the tone for years to come.
