Houston Rockets: 3 trades that send Victor Oladipo to the New York Knicks
The Houston Rockets‘ six-game winning streak came to an end last night when they fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder 104-87. The loss was just their third loss with Victor Oladipo in the lineup and brings their record to 5-3 in games started by their newest addition.
When the James Harden era ended, and the Oladipo era began, there was concern that the Rockets would fall off of a cliff, but instead, the team has rallied up the Western Conference standings. As fantastic as the Oladipo era has been there are persistent rumors that he might be targeted by contenders at the trade deadline to boost their championship odds.
However, another team has come along and shown an interest in the 27-year-old guard. The perpetually confusing New York Knicks are reported to be monitoring Oladipo’s progress and could target him ahead of the NBA’s trade deadline according to Bleacher Report’s A. Sherrod Blakely.
“That’s why Houston Rockets guard Victor Oladipo will be a name to keep an eye on. The former All-Star has had a slew of injuries in recent years but is among the more talented two-way players when healthy. League sources say the Knicks are among the teams interested in Oladipo and will be closely monitoring the impending free agent’s play leading up to the deadline and beyond if he’s not moved by then. “
The Knicks have gotten off to a surprising start this season but they are nowhere near to being a contender. Their interest in Oladipo would not be to strengthen a roster for a deep playoff run but to bring him in for the remainder of the season and convince him that signing an extension is the right course of action.
Regardless of the Knicks’ motivations for pursuing Oladipo, the franchise has the ammunition to go and swing a trade for the former All-NBA guard. These are three trades that could see him end up in the Big Apple.
