Houston Rockets trade for John Collins #3

When it comes to trade speculation it’s important to consider both teams. Of course, it would be great to get the other team’s top two players for your 12th man, but that’s not the reality. With this trade scenario, the Rockets would send away Victor Oladipo and Danuel House for Collins, Tony Snell, and Kris Dunn.

Why the Atlanta Hawks would make this trade

The Hawks in this trade would get an upgrade at the shooting guard position. They are currently starting Kevin Huerter, a solid player, but Oladipo would represent a serious upgrade at that position.

For all of Oladipo’s struggles on the offensive end, he has still been one of the Rockets’ best defenders since coming to Houston. The defensive side is something the Hawks still struggle with, especially on the perimeter.

House recently signed an extension to give them more depth on the wing or as a potential trade chip later on. He has endured a tough start to the season but he is still a player who shot 38.1-percent from 3-point range between the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.

The first-round pick would be the cherry on top and act as insurance, just in case, Oladipo walks at the end of the year. Collins is a restricted free agent, but by turning down the Hawks offer of $90 million, the two sides may decide it’s best to move on, and the Hawks could not match other offers.
