Houston Rockets: 5 Rockets who need to step it up
Houston Rocket who needs to step up #1: Danuel House
Danuel House, up until this season, had been a developmental success story for the Rockets. He went from an NBA cast-off to signing a two-way contract, to earning an NBA contract, to finally receiving a three-year contract worth $11.15 million from the Rockets.
House rewarded the Rockets’ faith by continuing to produce with an expanded role last season. However, since his much-publicized dismissal from the NBA playoff bubble, he has been absolutely abysmal for the Rockets.
House has shot 37.4-percent from the field and 28.6-percent from 3-point range after posting a 42.7-percent mark from the field and 36.3-percent on 3-pointers last season. The massive dropoff in his shooting accuracy has killed the Rockets this season.
House is still under contract for one more season after this one and since his trade value is at an all-time low he likely won’t be moved at the deadline. The Rockets and House are going to have to play this out and hope that he can’t regain his shooting stroke.
Danuel House needs to step it up or else he might find himself relegated to a deep bench role. There is plenty of time for him to turn it around but that can’t be said about the Rockets season. The Rockets need House to step it up or else they run the risk of being well outside the playoff picture as the season heads to the home stretch.
