Houston Rockets NBA Draft 2nd round prospect #2: Neemias Queta

Neemias Queta improved his scoring and rebounding every year for Utah State. Queta, like Bassey, is another athletic big man with a 7ft 4 wingspan, unlimited defensive upside, and a questionable offensive future.

Strengths: Queta excels on the defensive end with his long wingspan, and standing 7ft tall, he can lock down the paint either from the weakside or playing one-on-one post defense. He’s even able to run the floor and get in position to stop drives to the paint.

Queta has the ability to play above the rim off pick and rolls and on the fast break. He’s also an above-average passer from the post and accurate on cross-court passes.

Weaknesses: Like Bassey needs to improve mid-range and, of course, develop a 3-point shot. He has to improve ball handling to take his game to the next level, not crossing opposing players over at the 3-point line but handling the ball enough to execute hand-offs and starting fast breaks.

Outlook: Similar to Bassey, a hyper-athletic big who can have an immediate impact as a rim runner off pick and rolls and as a situational defensive center when you need to shut down the paint. He will bring plenty of energy off the bench in his rookie year.
