If you were a Houston Rockets fan when Patrick Beverley played with the team, you loved him. It seems he loves his former team's decision to acquire Kevin Durant.

When Beverley speaks, people listen. That's especially true if he played for your team. Beverley played basketball with so much heart that any fan would fall for him.

So, it's no surprise that he transitioned from NBA basketball to podcasting almost seamlessly. Beverley has a bright personality, and his willingness to speak his mind makes him a popular listen.

He recently told all his listeners how well Durant is going to fit with the Rockets.

Former Rockets fan favorite loves the Kevin Durant move

"I don't think KD has to adjust to the team (or) the team has to adjust to him...KD plays the right way".

Beverley has a point.

Durant is among the most portable stars in the NBA. His elite shooting means he can play next to anyone. His height helps too - Durant can function in any defensive scheme. You've never heard anyone suggest that so-and-so can't play with Durant - any NBA player can.

So, he ought to elevate the Rockets next year. Rockets fans should listen to Beverley when he tells them that:

He was one of those role players whose job was to complement the stars.

Patrick Beverley knows Kevin Durant will complement Rockets

Beverley was not a star. His career high in points per game in the NBA was 12.2. He wasn't a star, but he was someone that any star was happy to play with.

This is one of the most aggressive point of attack defenders we've ever seen. Despite his 6'2" frame, Beverley would be the man to guard Durant if that's what coach wanted. Beverley played with stars like James Harden, LeBron James, and Giannis Antetokounmpo throughout his career.

So, he knows a thing or two about incorporating star players onto a team. His words carry weight. If Beverley says this will work, it means something.

That said, he's not saying anything new.

Rockets know Kevin Durant will fit

Think about it. The Rockets won 52 games last year. Jalen Green continued to struggle. Durant is his direct replacement.

Why wouldn't this work?

Will the Rockets win the 2025-26 NBA championship? That remains to be seen. They'll be in the mix, but the competition will be stiff. The Western Conference is particularly stacked. Still, the addition of Durant will make them a viable candidate to go all the way:

Give Beverley his flowers for recognizing that.
