1 Rockets trade target on every team in the Eastern Conference
Orlando Magic: Gary Harris
The Magic are a lot like the Rockets. They're a young, competitive team who performs well in a lot of areas - and needs to improve their outside shooting. So, why would they make Harris available? He's one of their best shooters.
Listen - we're not writing trade terms here. We're identifying targets. Besides, trades take all types of shapes and forms in the NBA. No, the Rockets don't have anyone they'd trade one-for-one in exchange for Harris.
What about a three-team trade? The Magic are often linked to Anfernee Simons. Perhaps the Rockets could get involved as a facilitator and pick up Harris?
Either way, he'd be a sensible target for the team. Harris has been a reliable shooter throughout his career, and he's a solid point-of-attack defender. This is exactly the type of role-playing veteran the Rockets should covet.
Indiana Pacers: Jarace Walker
For the most part, we're looking at veterans here. The Rockets have added enough pieces to their youth movement. In Walker's case, we're making an exception.
To begin with, he played for the University of Houston. Walker obviously likes the city. That can be an advantage when a team is looking to retain a player's services.
More broadly, we're not sure what the Pacers have planned for him. They may have shifted their goals since drafting Walker. The Pacers acquired Pascal Siakam. That creates a logjam with Walker and Obi Toppin the roster.
Could the Rockets explore Walker's potential? He's a versatile defender with an array of face-up moves around the basket. The Rockets may not have a distinct place for him either, but they're in a better position to offer him a role than Indiana.
