1 Rockets trade target on every team in the Western Conference
If the Houston Rockets want to make a trade, it shouldn't be difficult.
Do you like assets? Good. The Rockets have plenty of assets. They could negotiate a wide range of deals if they deem it necessary.
Realistically, they're one of the teams to watch on the trade market this year. If the Rockets feel like they're falling behind in the Western Conference, why not make a deal with a Western Conference team?
Here's one target for the Rockets from each.
Oklahoma City Thunder: Isaiah Joe
If the Houston Rockets want to make a trade, it shouldn't be difficult - unless the Thunder want to trade for the same player.
This team has a historic asset base. They also have a highly competitive team. It wouldn't be a surprise if the Thunder were the best team in the Conference this year. Why would they trade a solid young player?
Well, their rotation is likely to be a bit crowded. Between the newly acquired Alex Caruso, Cason Wallace, Aaron Wiggins, and Joe, they may struggle to find time for everyone in their backcourt.
In that event, the Rockets should be happy to take on Joe. He shot 41.6% on 4.5 three-point attempts per game in 2023-24. The Rockets have a dire need for that type of floor spacing.
Denver Nuggets: Dario Saric
The Thunder strengthened their roster this summer. By contrast, the Nuggets may have regressed. They lost Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to the Magic in free agency.
If they're failing expectations at the deadline, could they be sellers? In that event, some Rockets fans will have their eyes on bigger prizes. They'd prefer the Rockets to make a run at Jamal Murray, or at least Michael Porter Jr.
Call us skeptics, but we doubt Murray will be available. Meanwhile, we're not sure if Porter Jr. is worth his price for a team in the Rockets' situation. Why not bring in a cheap combo big who offers some floor spacing and plus positional passing instead?
