Utah Jazz: Lauri Markkanen

We wanted to say Collin Sexton. He should be affordable, he's highly productive on a per-75 basis, and he plays as hard as Udoka wants everyone to play.

Yet, it had to be Markkanen, didn't it? He's linked to the Rockets tirelessly. He's also the type of star who would compliment anyone the Rockets have left after acquiring him.

He's like Towns in that respect - only he's a positive defender. Otherwise, he's a combo big who can space the floor and create shots. That's a portable enough player to work alongside anyone. The Rockets should consider Markkanen:

Unless Danny Ainge insists on ripping them off.

Memphis Grizzlies: John Konchar

You may have been expecting Marcus Smart. To be sure, the Rockets were heavily linked to him at the deadline.

Alternatively, you may have been expecting Luke Kennard. We've suggested him as a target for the Rockets before. Why wouldn't a team in as much need for shooting as the Rockets target a movement shooter like Kennard?

Smart was always a poor fit as a weak shooter. Kennard feels like a more tenable option, but we don't know what his next contract will look like. On the other hand, Konchar is comfortably affordable.

He's still a solid option. If nothing else, he should earn a place in the rotation ahead of Jae'Sean Tate as a vastly superior shooter. If the Rockets are looking for a more incremental upgrade, they should take a look at Konchar.
