The wait is over. The NBA's Summer League is underway. So far, Houston Rockets fans have a lot to be excited about.

They've won both of their games so far in convincing fashion. Several young Rockets have performed exceptionally well.

This team's future was already bright. Now, it appears blinding. With so much to be excited about, we identified three major takeaways from the Rockets' performance in Summer League so far.

1. Reed Sheppard is for real

You knew this was coming.

In the Rockets' 99-80 win against the Lakers, Sheppard finished with 23 points while shooting 9/17 from the field and 4/6 from long-range to go with 5 assists and 3 blocks. In their 109-91 blowout win against the Wizards, he had 22 points on 9/15 shooting along with 7 assists, 6 rebounds and 5 steals.

It's not just the production with Sheppard - it's how he's producing. Sheppard has flashed an advanced feel in pick-and-roll sets. He's making difficult passes with pinpoint precision, and scoring on all three levels.

Concerns about his defense have been alleviated as well. Yes, this is Summer League - some of the NBA's best guards will still exploit Sheppard's height. Still, he's used his quick hands and instincts to make some impressive plays on the ball and in passing lanes.

The Rockets may have gotten a star with the third pick in this draft.
