4. The Rockets make the playoffs

This is perhaps the most ambitious scenario in this piece. It's also by far the most important one.

In 2023-24, the goal was for the Rockets to improve. Mission accomplished. The Rockets won 41 games. That wasn't enough for a playoff berth, but it was enough to satisfy any reasonable observer.

In 2024-25, the stakes are higher. If it takes 55 wins to make the playoffs, the Rockets need to win 55 games. If this team doesn't make a postseason bid, we'd expect sweeping changes ahead of 2025-26.
