3. Robert Covington
Covington has seen his minutes slashed since being sent to the Philadelphia 76ers in a midseason deal. He's only managed a meager 16.1 minutes per game in the City of Brotherly Love.
That's fine. The Rockets will be opening up a rotation spot for the injured Tari Eason next year. They don't need to target high-usage players in free agency. Instead, the Rockets should be looking at veterans who can be plugged in to play when necessary.
Covington fits the bills. He's shooting an acceptable 35.4% from long-range since joining the Sixers. Moreover, his Defensive Box Plus/Minus (DBPM) of 3.2 on the season suggests that Covington still has value on that end of the floor.
Rockets fans should remember Covington fondly. He's a smart help defender who can force turnovers at will. If the Rockets want frontcourt depth, he'd make for a solid signing this summer.
