Some people say they don't have any regrets.

Good for them.

Most people would change a thing or two. Even massive organizations may opt to make a different decision in hindsight. Should the Houston Rockets have any regrets?

We wouldn't have signed Dillon Brooks. His production doesn't justify his contract. The Rockets could have found a more cost-effective 3-and-D wing, or, they could have splurged for a more reliable offensive player.

Here are four free agents from last summer that we'd have signed instead.

4. Matisse Thybulle

Some Rockets fans will bristle at the mention of Thybulle.

Fair enough. This team has been plagued by poor shooting. Thybulle has developed a reputation as a non-shooter. Is that reputation justified?

We'll note that Thybulle shot 34.6% from long-range last year. That's just a shade under Brooks' 35.9%. In 2022-23, Thybulle hit 38.8%. He's not a knockdown shooter, but Thybulle's reputation has outlived his actual production.

Moreover, he's arguably a better defender than Brooks. Thybulle is averaging 1.5 steals and 0.8 blocks per game in just 21.0 minutes throughout his career. At just $11 million a year, he almost certainly would have given the Rockets a better bang for their buck.
