4 free agents the Rockets wish they'd signed instead of Dillon Brooks
1. Donte DiVincenzo
This one hurts.
DiVincenzo averaged 15.5 points per game for the Knicks this year while shooting 40.1% from the three-point line. Was he handsomely rewarded for his efforts? On regular human standards, sure - but his $11.7 million was one of the best-value contracts in the NBA.
For the most part, we've been looking at wings in this article. At 6'4", some would consider DiVincenzo a guard. That's fair, but in this positionless league, he can comfortably line up at the 3.
In fact, he spent 21% of his minutes at that position in 2023-24. Let's not split hairs - DiVincenzo is an inch shorter than Brooks. He's a better player, and he earns roughly half of what Brooks does.
The Rockets should regret not pursuing him.
