Even Burks isn't a no-brainer. The Rockets need to walk a fine line between adding veteran talent and giving their young players a runway toward development. Burks will rightfully demand minutes in their rotation.
Meanwhile, the injury-riddled Rockets are currently seeing the importance of roster depth. Alperen Sengun, Tari Eason, and Cam Whitmore have all missed significant time in 2023-24. The Rockets could look to add veterans on the back of the bench who can step up if necessary.
Why not reunite with Covington? He's not a player who's going to demand significant time. On the other hand, if the Rockets need him, Covington is likely to be ready. He's not as reliable of a shooter as the other targets here, but he is a passable floor spacer who Udoka should love on the defensive end of the floor.
